Instruments and Lockers
Instruments can be rented or purchased at any of the above music stores. A quality working instrument is extremely important to the success of your student. An instrument that doesn’t stay in tune or that has poor tone will not be fun to play or practice. Please avoid purchasing instruments online… especially from amazon or ebay. I am happy to help you find a great instrument!
Please mark all of your music and equipment with your student’s FIRST and LAST name. Students who rent instruments from the school assume responsibility of the repairs of the instrument for that school year. This includes broken bows and broken strings. Please take special care to keep your instrument out of hot cars and direct sunlight or extreme cold.
Violin and Viola students will be assigned a locker for the school year. You need to provide a lock for this locker.
Students are expected to come prepared to class each day: instrument, bow, folder, music, pencil, great attitude. Participation points will be lost for days students do not come prepared.
Music and Folders
Each student will be provided with a folder to hold music and practice assignments. This needs to be taken home each day for personal practice and returned to school for class each day. Students are encouraged to mark their music with PENCIL. All music will be turned in at the end of each concert. Students will be charged for lost music.
Students will use classroom binders for theory lessons and to hold participation records. Each student needs to provide one black fine-tip dry erase marker and three good quality pencils that can be sharpened (not mechanical) to the orchestra classroom to use during class.
